My name is Carolina Martinez and I am a Colombian-born illustrator and artist living and working in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.
My work revolves around images that evoke personal and universal experiences. My illustrations are small universes inspired by elements from the countries, cities, and places I have visited or lived in. I use digital and traditional painting and I enjoy incorporating lots of color, forms, and sometimes text.
I strive to connect my inner world with that of the observer because I want my art to bring joy to an audience that comes from a convoluted and chaotic world. I relish the aesthetic pleasure of simple things, like a slice of cake, a story about my daughter, a small town and its inhabitants, and some snapshots of my everyday life.
